- 1.1 This standard specifies a direct method and a comparative method for determining the sound power level produced by a sound source, operating relative to the characteristic impedance ρ c = 400 N. Under the standard meteorological conditions of S∕m3 (ρ is the air density, c is the speed of sound). General rules specifying test chamber requirements, sound source location and operating conditions, and this standard does not provide for the determination of the directionality and duration of sound emitted by a sound source.
