Scope

This document specifies the determination of nickel release from articles or materials that are in direct and prolonged contact with the skin. This document is applicable to the determination of nickel release from materials or products such as metals, metal-containing platings and coatings in automotive products that are in direct contact with the skin. The determination of nickel release in other products can be carried out with reference to this document after the applicability has been confirmed.
