Introduction

Analysis of the core content of the standard

The seventh edition of ISO 2398:2024 has comprehensively updated the technical specifications for textile-reinforced rubber compressed air hoses, which are mainly suitable for industrial scenarios with working pressure ≤2.5MPa (25bar) and working temperature range of -40°C to +70°C. The standard uses the three-dimensional system of type-grade-category to achieve accurate product classification.

1. Dimensional tolerance requirements

Inner diameter tolerance follows ISO 4671 standard, typical values such as Φ25mm hose allowable range is 23.75-26.25mm. Concentricity requirements: ≤76mm pipe diameter deviation ≤1.0mm, >76mm pipe diameter deviation ≤1.5mm.

2. Physical performance benchmarks

  • Rubber compound: Tensile strength ≥7MPa, elongation at break ≥250%
  • Aging performance: Tensile strength change after aging at 100°C×3 days ≤±25%
  • Burst pressure: Type 3 hose must reach 10MPa (100bar)

Test specification update highlights

Main revisions to the 2024 version:

  1. Delete the original Appendix B and optimize the test requirements table A.1
  2. When the type test cycle is clearly 5 years or the process is changed
  3. Add a 3-point sampling rule for production batches for routine testing (first/middle/last)

Implementation suggestions

Selection Guide

Mining equipment is recommended to use the Type 3/Class C/LT combination, which can meet the requirements of high pressure, oil resistance and low temperature conditions. Ordinary workshop pneumatic tools can meet the requirements using Type 1/Class A/NT.

Quality Control Points

  • Focus on the minimum thickness of the lining layer (Type 3 requires ≥2.0mm)
  • Low-temperature applications must verify the pressure resistance after the -40°C bending test
  • Oil-resistant hoses need to monitor the volume expansion rate after 72 hours of oil immersion
