Scope

This standard specifies an XML schema for an intelligent data file format for describing printed boards and printed board assembly products that contains sufficient detail to meet tooling, manufacturing, assembly, and inspection requirements. The format can be used to transfer information between printed board designers and manufacturing or assembly facilities. The data is most useful when the manufacturing cycle includes computer-aided processes and numerically controlled machines. The data can be defined in either English or International System of Units (SI) units. The format is a combination of the IPC-2511 "GenCAM" and Valor Computerized Systems "ODB-X" format structures.
