I. Background and significance of standard formulation
As an important livestock resource, the determination of the production performance of yaks is of great significance to improving breeding benefits and promoting industrial development. This standard was proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and is managed by the National Technical Committee for Animal Husbandry Standardization. It aims to standardize the determination process of yaks' production performance.
II. Scope of application and core content
This standard is applicable to the performance determination of yaks in terms of growth and development, reproduction, fattening, meat production, milk production and wool production. Specifically include:
- Growth and development traits: body height, body oblique length, etc.
- Reproduction traits: calving rate, reproduction survival rate, etc.
- Fattening traits: daily weight gain, feed conversion rate, etc.

To ensure the accuracy and consistency of the measurement results, it is recommended that:
- A standardized measurement process should be established.
- Provide professional training to measurement personnel on a regular basis.
