Introduction

1. Background and significance of standard formulation

GB/T 43634—2024 "Guidelines for occupational protection in forensic autopsy" is a standard document proposed by the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China and managed by the National Technical Committee for Criminal Technology Standardization. This standard provides comprehensive protection principles, evaluation methods and specific implementation suggestions for the occupational exposure risks that forensic workers may face during autopsy.

2. Comparison of standard frameworks

Chapter number Chapter content Keywords Key interpretation
1 Scope Scope of application, forensic autopsy The applicable institutions and personnel of the standard are clarified.
5 Occupational exposure hazard factors Biological, physical, chemical Detailed classification of occupational exposure hazards.
6 Occupational exposure risk management Protective equipment, on-site disposal Emphasizing graded protection and emergency measures.

3. Occupational exposure risk classification and management

According to the standard content, the occupational exposure risks of forensic autopsy are divided into three levels:

  • Level I protection: Applicable to corpses that are not highly decomposed and have no signs of infectious diseases, and basic protective equipment must be worn.
  • Level II protection: Applicable to highly decomposed corpses or corpses with potential infection risks, requiring enhanced protection measures.
  • Level III protection: Applicable to confirmed or suspected corpses contaminated by hazardous chemicals or Class A infectious diseases, requiring the highest level of protection.

4. Implementation suggestions and precautions

Case analysis: A forensic doctor of a city's public security bureau did not follow the Level II protection standard when handling a highly decomposed corpse, resulting in subsequent occupational exposure risks. According to Article 5.3.1 of this standard, a higher level of protective equipment should be selected to ensure safety.

Specific implementation suggestions:

  1. Strengthen occupational protection training, especially for new employees.
  2. Regularly check and update personal protective equipment to ensure its effectiveness and applicability.
  3. Establish a sound emergency response mechanism, including a rapid response process after occupational exposure.
