GB/T 3953—2024 National Standard for Electrical Round Copper Wire is an important update after the 2009 version. It is a comprehensive revision of the technical requirements and test methods for round copper wires used in wires and cables, motors and electrical and electronic devices. This revision adds terms and definitions, refines the models, specifications and technical indicators of different types of round copper wires, and puts forward higher requirements for key parameters such as surface quality and dimensional deviation.
| Standard dimensions | GB/T 3953—2009 | GB/T 3953—2024 |
|---|---|---|
| Technical requirements | Basically covers the technical parameters of round copper wire. | Added and refined the technical indicators of Class 1 soft and hard round copper wire, and added classification requirements for tensile strength and elongation. |
| Test methods | Provide basic test procedures. | Optimized the calculation parameters and measurement methods, and introduced more precise measurement equipment requirements. |
| Delivery and acceptance rules | Specify basic delivery conditions. | Specify the proportion of short-segment delivery, and refine the inspection requirements for paralleling structures and small-sized round copper wires. |
Case 1: Manufacturing and inspection of small-sized round copper wires
For TR-type soft round copper wires with a nominal diameter less than 0.05mm, manufacturers should strictly measure the cross-sectional area in accordance with Clause 5.4.2 of GB/T4909.2-2009, and calculate the diameter deviation through the formula. It is recommended to use a high-precision microscope to assist in inspection to ensure that the product meets the deviation requirement of ±0.001mm.
In actual applications, this type of round copper wire is often used in precision electronic equipment, and its surface quality directly affects the conductive performance. Manufacturers should establish strict quality control processes to avoid burrs and adhesion defects.
