GB/T 3939.2—2023 "Nomenclature and Marking of Main Fishing Gear Materials Part 2: Nets" is a national standard of the People's Republic of China, which aims to unify the naming and marking rules of fishing nets. This standard replaces the old version GB/T3939.2—2004, adds more detailed provisions on fiber material codes, mesh shapes, and new materials such as PET nets, and further standardizes the production, trade and management of fishing gear materials.
| Old version of the standard (GB/T 3939.2—2004) | New version of the standard (GB/T 3939.2—2023) | Comparative analysis |
|---|---|---|
| No systematic provisions for fiber material codes | Main mesh fiber material codes have been added (see Chapter 4) | New content has been added to standardize material naming |
| The marking category is relatively simple | The marking category, composition and expression form have been changed | The structure is clearer and convenient for practical application |
| Detailed provisions for mesh specifications are not involved | Added mesh specification marking (see 5.1.1) and PET mesh marking (see 5.1.3.1) | Added specifications for new materials |
Fishing gear materials:Materials directly used to assemble fishing gear, including net lines, nets, ropes, etc.
Mesh:A sheet-like woven fabric with a certain mesh structure woven from net lines.
The naming of mesh includes two parts: the fiber material name and the mesh structure:
- Fiber material name: refer to Table A.1 in Appendix A (such as PA for polyamide and PET-M for PET monofilament).
- Structural classification: divided into two categories: knotted mesh and knotless mesh.
Complete marking: Includes fiber material code, mesh specifications, mesh cable specifications and production standards.
Simple marking: Simplified representation, suitable for specific application scenarios.
Example: PET-M mesh produced according to GB/T18673
- Fiber material: semi-rigid polyethylene terephthalate monofilament (PET-M).
- Structural type: hexagonal mesh.
- Complete marking: PET-M—φ3.0mm×45mm(3m×20m) GJ GB/T 18673.
The new version of the standard introduces more fiber materials, such as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and polypropylene/polyethylene composites. These new materials have significant advantages in strength, durability and cost-effectiveness.
Added a variety of structures such as PET nets and warp knitted nets in knotless nets, enriching the application scenarios of fishing nets, especially the demand for high-quality nets in modern fisheries.
