Scope
This document specifies the special requirements for the design, construction, and evaluation of intrinsically safe systems (explosion-proof type "i"). This document applies to intrinsically safe systems, wholly or partially, intended for use in locations requiring Class I, II, or III Ex equipment. Note 1: This document is used for the design and evaluation of intrinsically safe systems and may be used by personnel of manufacturers, third-party organizations, expert consultants, or end-users. This document supplements and modifies GB/T 3836.1 General Requirements and GB/T 3836.4 Intrinsically Safe Types. In cases of conflict between the requirements of this document and those of GB/T 3836.1 or GB/T 3836.4, the requirements of this document shall prevail. Installation requirements for Class II or III intrinsically safe systems designed according to this document are specified in GB/T 3836.15. Note 2: GB/T 3836.15 currently does not specify installation requirements for Class I systems; installation requirements for Class I systems are under consideration.
