GB/T 28952-2024 "China Forest Certification Production and Marketing Custody Chain" is the basic standard for China's forest product certification work and is applicable to the conformity evaluation of third-party sustainable forest product certification. This standard was released in 2024 and replaced the old version of the standard in 2018.

3.1 Terms and definitions

Controversial sources: Refers to the acquisition of forest raw materials or forest products involving non-compliance with local, national or international forest management laws and regulations, or the logging intensity exceeds the sustainable development level.

4. Implementation suggestions

1. Establish a management system: The organization should formulate written production and marketing custody chain procedural documents according to its own characteristics and scale, and clarify responsibilities and authorities.
2. Strengthen due diligence: Pay special attention to the risk assessment of the source of raw materials and avoid using raw materials from controversial sources. For high-risk suppliers, second-party or third-party verification is required.
3. Adopt appropriate chain of custody methods: Choose physical separation method, percentage method or credit method according to the actual situation of the enterprise, and ensure the accuracy and traceability of the data.
