GB/T 19635—2024 is the core standard in the field of long-staple cotton, replacing the old version of GB/T19635—2005. This revision mainly targets the following aspects:

2. Interpretation of core clauses
2.1 Grade classification and quality requirements
According to the standard, long-staple cotton is divided into 5 grades (1~5), among which:
- Grade 3 is the standard grade, representing the maturity and processing quality of cotton.
- Each grade is distinguished by sensory characteristics, color characteristics and rolling quality.
- Implementation case: The test result of a batch of long-staple cotton is grade 2, indicating that its maturity is normal, but slightly lower than the standard grade requirements.
2.2 Length requirements
Length is an important indicator for measuring cotton quality and is graded as follows:
