1. Background of the Standard Revision
This standard is a comprehensive revision of GB/T 12705.1—2009, mainly testing the anti-down drilling performance of textiles and their products during friction. The revisions include:
- Scope adjustment: New regulations on direct sampling and testing of down and feather products.
- Equipment parameter optimization: The speed of the testing machine is accurate to 135±1 r/min, and the adjustable range of the fixture spacing is expanded to 5mm~60mm.
- Filling requirements are improved: It is clarified that the down content of down and feather fillings shall not be less than 70%, and a new thickness tester is added for sample evaluation.

- The sample bag for down and feather products should ensure the integrity of the original stitching structure to avoid destroying the uniformity of the filling.
- The 4N procedure of GB/T8629-2017 is recommended for the washing procedure to ensure the consistency of the test results.
Data Recording and Analysis:
- It is recommended to use professional data analysis software for result statistics, supporting the GB/T8170 numerical rounding rules.
- If the number of down feathers exceeds 50, mark and stop counting in time to ensure data reliability.
