Scope

This standard specifies general requirements for seismic design and rating of nuclear power plants. It applies to all structures, systems and components (SSC) that require seismic evaluation for nuclear power safety considerations. In areas of high seismic hazard, requirements beyond the scope of this standard may require additional provisions. The standard may also apply to other SSCs, to the extent deemed appropriate by the operating organization or the authority with jurisdiction (such as the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC)).
