This standard applies to industrial air handling systems with the following characteristics: a) systems with annual electricity consumption greater than 500,000 kWh; b) systems with air flow rates greater than 9.4 m³/s (20,000 cfm); c) air movement systems with a maximum energy output limited to 25 kJ per kg of air, equivalent to a maximum pressure ratio of 1.3 per stage; d) flow velocities ≤ 100 m/s (≤ 20,000 fpm), which are considered incompressible; e) air supply systems used for air supply, air collection, exhaust, induced draft, or forced draft applications, and can be configured as a single system in parallel or series; f) material handling applications using dilute phase conveying with a weight ratio ≥ 2.0. Scope of application This standard does not apply to air movement systems with the following characteristics: a) Unzoned systems (such as ceiling fans, cross-flow fans and air curtain units); b) Systems with free inlet/outlet and zoned (such as wall fans); c) Multi-room building ventilation systems; d) Systems with a pressure ratio greater than 1.3; e) Material handling applications using dense phase conveying with a weight ratio < 2.0; f) Applications with air temperatures above 250°C.
