This Canadian National Standard is equivalent to International Standard ISO/IEC 14496-1:2001 (second edition, 2001-10-01).
1 Scope
This part of ISO/IEC 14496 specifies system-level functionalities for the communication of interactive audio-visual scenes. More specifically:
1. System-level description of the coded representation of natural or synthetic two-dimensional (2D) or three-dimensional (3D) objects that can be manifested audibly and/or visually (audio-visual objects);
2. Coded representation of the spatio-temporal positioning of audio-visual objects as well as their behavior in response to interaction (scene description); and
3. Coded representation of information related to the management of data streams (synchronization, identification, description, and association of stream content).
4. System-level description of an application engine (format, delivery, lifecycle, and behavior of downloadable Java bytecode applications); and
5. System-level interchange and storage format for interactive audio-visual scenes.
