- This document specifies test methods and test charts for measuring the geometric properties and their variation of duplex color prints commonly used in office environments. This document applies to duplex prints consisting of multiple sheets with color images printed on both sides of the substrate. "Intra-page variation" and "Inter-sheet variation" also apply to single-sided print sets consisting of multiple sheets with a color image printed on one side of the substrate and no image on the other side. Prints using four primary colorants other than cyan, magenta, yellow and black are not within the scope of this document. Digital prints formed using multifunction or single-function printers are included. When evaluating duplex print sets, duplex printers that can automatically print images on both sides of the substrate are applicable, while single-sided printers that require manual alignment of the substrate between front and back printing to form duplex prints are not within the scope of this document. Printers with a maximum applicable substrate size of A4 or larger are applicable for measurement. The geometric properties included are registration and magnification of the print set. Microscopic geometric density variations, such as graininess, mottle and line roughness, are not within the scope of this document. Sources of variation considered include position within the page, printed side within the sheet, printing order of sheets within a print set, and variations between major colors.
