BS EN ISO 12311:2023 is the UK's national implementation standard for EN ISO 12311:2023, which completely replaces the 2013 version of the standard. This standard specifies the test methods for sunglasses and related eyewear products, and is used in conjunction with the ISO 12312 series of standards.

Use a ring fixture and pressure bolt device to apply a maximum force of 5N or a displacement of 10% of the lens spacing at the center of the lens, and measure the permanent deformation rate after holding for 5 seconds. The qualified standards are:
Mechanical fatigue test simulating wearing action:
Use artificial sweat (lactic acid + sodium chloride) to test in two stages:
Phase 1 (8 hours): Check the overall appearance changes, exclude the joints and screws
Phase 2 (total 24 hours): Focus on detecting corrosion or coating separation at skin contact areas (inside of temple, lower part of lens ring, inside of nose bridge)
According to the requirements of Appendix A: When the test result ± uncertainty value overlaps with the limit value, it should be judged as unqualified to ensure user safety.
