Standard Overview
BS EN IEC 61753-081-06:2023 specifies the minimum performance requirements for non-connected single-mode fiber DWDM devices with channel spacing of 50GHz/100GHz/200GHz under OP+ environmental level. This standard applies to medium-scale arrayed waveguide grating devices with 16-64 channels, covering both Gaussian and flat-top channel configurations.

Environmental test requirements
The standard specifies 7 types of harsh environmental tests:
- Temperature cycle: 12 cycles in the range of -40℃~+75℃
- Combined damp heat: 10 cycles of -10℃~+65℃ at 93% humidity
- Mechanical vibration: 10-55Hz sinusoidal vibration (15 scans in each of the 3 axes)
- Salt spray corrosion: 96 hours exposure to 5% NaCl solution
- Dust test: 150μm talcum powder spray for 10 minutes
- Fiber retention force: 10N pulling force for 60 seconds
- High power test: 300mW@1550nm optical power for 30 minutes
After all tests, the insertion loss variation must be controlled within ±0.5dB.
Technology Evolution Analysis
Compared with the Class C environmental standard of IEC 61753-081-02, this version mainly strengthens:
- Temperature range is extended from -5℃~+70℃ to -40℃~+75℃
- Added salt spray and dust test items
- High power test conditions are increased from 200mW to 300mW
- The number of samples required is increased from 3 groups to 4 groups
Implementation Recommendations
Manufacturers should pay special attention to:
- Use B-652.D/B-657 single-mode optical fiber as the test benchmark
- Reserve 1.0m pigtail for testing on each port
- Prepare 12-4 groups of samples according to the requirements of Table A.1
- Sealed packaged devices can be exempted from humidity control testing
- The test report must include the worst value under all polarization states
