The standard specifically emphasizes differentiated requirements for PM2.5/PM10 particulate matter sensors and five types of gaseous pollutants.

Compared with CEN TS 17660-1, this standard has made a breakthrough by incorporating particulate matter sensors into the evaluation system and adopting a dual-dimensional classification system (e.g., Class 1.2 indicates Laboratory Class 1/Field Class 2). In the cross-interference test requirements, the interference threshold of O3 on NO2 sensor must be controlled within 5 nmol/mol at Class 1 level.
A smart city project uses Class 1 PM10 sensors to build a grid monitoring system. The selected equipment meets the following standards:
- Field comparability slope 0.9-1.1
- MAE ≤ 5 µg/m³
- Temperature drift ≤ 2 µg/m³/°C and other core indicators
Main updates to the 2024 version include:
1. Added dynamic temperature drift test requirements for PM10 sensors
2. Refined cross-interference thresholds for NO2 and O3
3. Introduced a verification framework for machine learning algorithms (refer to the Appendix of D8406)
