This standard is applicable to the sampling of light fuels with a dry vapor pressure equivalent (DVPE) in the range of 13-110 kPa, with special emphasis on:
| Sampling type | Applicable container | Temperature requirement | Filling ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full-layer sampling | Glass bottle/metal can | 0-1°C | 70-85% |
| Pipeline sampling | Fluorinated polyethylene bottle | Ambient temperature | 80% flushing |
| Nozzle sampling | 125mL special bottle | Pre-cooling treatment | ≤85% |
Compared with D5842-19, the 2023 edition has the following major changes:
Critical Control Points:
Typical application scenario: Sampling from the fuel gun at a gas station requires the special extension tube shown in Figure 9 to achieve closed sampling.
Special Warnings of the Standard:
Petroleum vapor is toxic and flammable. The sampling process must strictly avoid: ① Vapor inhalation ② Open flame/spark ignition
The label information must include: sampling time and space location information, fuel brand/grade, and leak-proof seal that complies with DOT transportation regulations.
