1. Basic Performance Terminology

Abrasion Resistance: A coating's ability to resist mechanical abrasion is measured using the Falling Sand Tester (D968) and the Pendulum Damper (D4366). Industrial floor coatings require ≥500 cycles (1 kg load).

2. Chemical Property Terminology

Acid Number: The number of milligrams of KOH consumed per gram of sample. Typical values for alkyd resins are 8-15 mg/g, and for epoxy resins, ≤0.5 mg/g.
