Scope
When specified by the user, pumps within the scope provided shall conform to these requirements. a) Horizontal end suction single stage (ANSI/ASME B73.1 Specification for Horizontal End Suction Centrifugal Pumps for Chemical Process Applications and B73.3 Specification for Sealless Horizontal End Suction Metallic Centrifugal Pumps for Chemical Process Applications). b) Vertical in-line single stage (ANSI/ASME B73.2 Specification for Vertical In-line Centrifugal Pumps for Chemical Process Applications). c) Axially split single and two stage (BB1). d) Vertically suspended pump single casing with cylindrical discharge through diffuser and volute (VS1 and VS2). Many other types of pumps are not included because each manufacturer's design is unique. For pump types outside the scope of this standard, the allowable nozzle loads shall be determined by the pump manufacturer and the purchaser predicting the nozzle loads for the application, with any discrepancies to be resolved by mutual agreement. For nozzle load evaluation for mud pump applications, refer to ANSI/HI 12.1-12.6 Nomenclature, Definitions, Application, and Operation of Rotary Power Centrifugal Mud Pumps.
