Scope
The standard includes three calculation options: ——monthly calculation (stationary method) according to NS-EN is 13790; ——simplified hourly calculation (dynamic method) according to NS-EN is 13790; ——detailed calculation programs (dynamic method) validated according to NS-EN 15265. Only monthly calculations are described in detail in this standard. For dynamic calculation methods, reference is made to NS-EN is 13790 or validated calculation programs. Appendix A and appendix M include input data to be used for control calculations against public requirements. The values in Appendix A have been prepared for documentation against regulations and do not represent real conditions. The standard contains common provis ons and input data to be used for all three of the above calculation methods. The standard lays down rules for calculating buildings' heat loss figures; ——total net energy demand in an energy budget; ——delivered energy to buildings dis ributed among various energy products; ——primary energy demand, CO2 emis ions, weighted delivered energy and energy cost. NS 3031 can be used to ?: ——assess whether the building meets the energy requirements given in regulations on technical requirements for buildings (Building Technical Regulations); ——document theoretical energy demand according to energy certificate for buildings; ——show a typical level of exis ing buildings' energy needs and document a building's theoretical energy performance in connection with energy certification; ——optimize the energy performance of a new building by using the method of alternative solutions or specified conditions of use; ——assess the impact of possible energy measures on exis ing buildings by calculating the energy requirement with and without energy measures, both with regard to reduced energy use, CO2 emis ions and reduced energy costs; ——estimate the future need for energy resources at national and international level by calculating the energy need for a number of buildings that can be considered representative of the entire building stock. The standard complements and follows the rules and methods where they are found in the European standards related to the building energy directive (European Parliament and Council Directive 2002/91/EC on the energy performance of buildings), and provides the user with the necessary choices and calculation data that it opens for in the European standards. Figure 1 schematically shows the calculation process in this standard.
