This European Standard specifies a method for determining the vitamin B1 content present in food products by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with enzymatic treatment and pre- or post-column derivatization. This method was validated during two interlaboratory tests. The first trial involved the analysis of samples of wholemeal flour, milk powder/spray dried milk, freeze-dried vegetable assortments and freeze-dried pork liver ranging from 0.295 mg/100 g to 0.807 mg/100 g.
