Scope

This part of IEC 61643 is applicable to gas dis harge tubes (GDTs) used for overvoltage protection of low-voltage telecommunications, signal and dis ribution networks, the rated network voltages of which are less than or equal to 1 000 V (rms values) AC and 1500 V DC They are defined as a spark gap or spark gaps with two or three metal electrodes hermetically sealed so that the gas mixture and pressure are under control.
