This International Standard specifies the quality and competence requirements applicable to medical biology laboratories. This International Standard is aimed at medical biology laboratories which develop their quality management systems and assess their own competence. Laboratory customers, regulatory authorities and accreditation bodies engaged in activities to confirm or recognize the competence of medical biology laboratories may also refer to it. This International Standard is not intended for laboratory certification purposes.
