This Standard deals with a system of classification of building materials according to their behaviour during fire, in accordance with criteria detailed in this Standard and in accordance with the results of tests specified in the Standard. The Standard also applies to materials fireproofed over their entire thickness, but does not apply to materials surface-proofed by coatings alone.
The Standard applies to the materials at the time of testing and does not apply to changes in the properties of the material that may occur in the course of time.
The Standard does not deal with the use of combustible materials in buildings according to occupancy.
