This Standard deals with preserved sardines packed in oil and preserved by heat processing.
The designation "sardines" relates to the following kinds of fish: Sardina, Pilehardus Sardinella Maderensis, Sardinella Aurita, and it shall not be used for designating preserves of other kinds of fish; nevertheless the designation "Kinnereth lake sardines-" may be used for fish preserves of the kind "Acanthobrama terra sanctae", although the requirements of this Standard do not apply to sardine preserves of the above-mentioned fish.
