This standard provides the rules to be followed for the determination of the ash content, prior to ignition, of antifreezes, anticorrosives and coolants, both new and used, used in motor vehicle engines. It is applied to high and low boiling point liquid products. The method is designed to help identify the various types of antifreeze, anticorrosives and coolants. Even though the ash is due to the inhibitors used, the test is not a measure of their concentration.
