This standard specifies the method for determining the kinematic viscosity of transparent or opaque liquids from 0.2 cSt. NOTES 1 Determinations can be made at any temperature at which the liquid flow is Newtonian in glass capillary type viscometers. 2 Many liquids are Newtonian at some temperatures, but not at others. To determine the Newtonian behavior of a liquid, its viscosity can be measured at different sliding speeds in several viscometers of different dimensions; In true or Newtonian liquids, the viscosity will be the same with different sliding speeds. Non-Newtonian liquids do not have true physical viscosity constants, but in them the determination of apparent viscosity is useful.
