Scope
The purpose of this standard is to determine the classification of locations where there is a potential risk of explosion due to the presence of flammable gases, vapors or mists that, mixed with air in a suitable proportion, cause the appearance of an explosive atmosphere, establishing Likewise, the degrees of danger and the extent of these locations in order to be able to properly select the electrical materials to be installed in them, or on the contrary, study the most suitable situation of these materials tending to eliminate the risks of explosion. Due to the great variety of elements to be considered to establish this classification, such as the characteristics of the flammable gases, vapors or mists, their ignition and handling temperatures, the proportion in which they are mixed with air, the ventilation conditions, etc., which largely implies the use of one's own experience together with a good selection criterion, the conclusions and results reached by the Specialists will have preference after demonstrating their analyzes and conclusions. nes before the competent Official Bodies, on the literal interpretation of the text and the figures that are included in it as examples. Although the classification of locations is closely linked to the electrical installation, and more specifically to the use of electrical appliances, they cannot be ruled out and must, therefore, be taken into consideration the risks that may arise from other ignition sources, such as It could be the friction of metals with the production of sparks or other analogues.
