The purpose of this standard is to determine the characteristics that apples intended to be consumed fresh must have. It also refers to the commercial classification by varieties, sizes and qualities, the containers usable for export, the packaging of the fruit in them and the brands that must appear on the containers. Apples destined for industrial processing are excluded from this rule.
