This standard describes the test method to determine the stability of chairs, armchairs and stools by simulating the overturning forces produced by normal use. The method is applicable to all types of upright back chairs and armchairs, stools and poufs. It is not applicable to sofas and other multiple seats, nor to reclining chairs in a reclined position, rocking chairs or rockers. However, it can be applied to chairs or recliners when used with the backrest vertical. In the case of designs to which the procedures described in the tests cannot be applied, these must be carried out in such a way that they approximate as closely as possible to those established here, indicating the modifications introduced. The tests must be carried out on articles completely assembled and ready for use. The test results are valid only for the tested article.
