The purpose of this standard is to indicate the method that must be followed to determine the presence of a phenolic resin, in the non-volatile part of a vehicle or varnish, by any of the three procedures indicated below, using a small amount of the separated non-volatile vehicle, if it is pigmented paints, or of the non-volatile portion, if it is a varnish.
