This standard establishes the basic measurements and specifies the materials, lifting capacity and conditions of use of screw eyebolts. These can be used for vertical and inclined lifting (see annex). This standard covers screw eyebolts with and without a hollow seat, (see figure 1), namely: a) type 1, with a screw and a hollow seat for holes with and without a chamfer; b) type 2, with a tenon without a hollow seat, exclusively for holes without a chamfer. This standard does not cover screw eyes that are not forged in one piece. The eye dimensions of the screw eyebolts of this standard are such that they normally allow a direct fit with eye hooks of equal lifting capacity (maximum operating load) intended for use with class T chains (8). . In the case of eye hooks intended for use with class M chains (4), it may be necessary to use an intermediate element such as a shackle to make the connection.
