Scope
1.1 The purpose of this standard is to define a reaction to fire test method applicable: a) to simple or composite rigid materials, regardless of their thickness, b) to all glued coating materials, c) to all flexible materials with a thickness greater than 5 mm, excluding stretched (non-glued) wall or ceiling coverings and flexible filtration materials, in order to allow their classification with regard to their fire behavior as construction. 1.2 The materials are tested respecting the expected conditions of use, the method of application and taking into account their physical and geometric characteristics, their composition, their color, etc., taking into account that the tests can only be carried out on flat specimens. Glued wall or ceiling coverings are considered rigid materials and are tested on the typical supports defined by the UNE 23-730 standard or, eventually, on another particular support. Floor coverings are systematically tested according to their method of installation and on a non-insulating M-0 type support, defined by the UNE 23-730 standard or, eventually, on another particular support. They must be subjected to the radiation test (see standard UNE 23-721) and, where appropriate, to the radiant panel test (see UNE 23-726). Painted, varnished or plastered materials are tested respecting the conditions of use of the coating (number of layers, quantity deposited, etc.). The classification is applicable to the finished facing. 1.3 Materials that puncture without catching fire or that melt must be subject to complementary tests. 1.4 To determine the tests to be carried out according to the nature and use of the materials, the UNE 23-730 standard will be consulted.
