This European Standard defines the methods for determining the dimensional characteristics (length, width, thickness, straightness of sides, orthogonality, surface flatness) and surface appearance of ceramic tiles of all types. Tiles with a surface area of less than 4 cm2 are not subject to measurement of length, width, straightness, sides, orthogonality and surface flatness. When measuring length, width, straightness of sides and orthogonality, spacers, glaze drops and other irregularities on the sides should be ignored, as long as they remain hidden in the joints after installation.
