The purpose of this standard is to establish a photometric method for determining the content of carbonyl compounds present in small quantities in ethanol used as raw material for detergent formulations. The method is applicable to products whose content of carbonyl compounds, expressed as acetaldehyde, is between 0.00025 and 0.01% by weight. NOTE — This method, used in commercial practice, allows the determination of only the carbonyl compounds capable of reacting under the specified conditions.
