The purpose of this standard is to establish a spray test method for determining the resistance of a fabric to surface wetting by water, or by an aqueous solution with surfactants. A fabric may be water resistant, not water resistant, or may have received a water-repellent treatment. This standard is not applicable to determine the resistance to rain penetration, since it does not measure the penetration of water through the fabric.
