This standard specifies a method to determine the total bacterial population of a paper or cardboard, that is, the bacteria present, both inside and on the surface of the sheet. The method described can be used with most papers and boards, but is not suitable, for example, for sulfurized papers or wet-resistant papers, which cannot disintegrate well.
