This standard specifies the basic requirements for breathing tubes used with anesthesia devices and some respirators and applies equally to breathing tubes that have integrally coupled components. Reference is made to respiratory tubes that have simple terminals (either cylindrical or conical) or terminals that incorporate conical accessories. Special-purpose breathing tubes, such as those used with some respirators, double-lumen tubes, and pediatric breathing systems, are excluded from the scope of this standard.
