This standard describes the test methods for determining the stability of a sofa, by simulating the overturning forces that occur during normal use. The methods described here are valid for testing any type of sofa, and items such as benches, with seats for 2 to 4 seats. They are not applicable to chairs, stools and multiple seating, such as those used in stadiums. In the case of designs to which the procedures described in the tests cannot be applied, these must be carried out in such a way that they approximate as closely as possible to those established here, indicating the modifications introduced. The tests must be carried out on articles completely assembled and ready for use. The test results are valid only for the tested article.
