This standard specifies the requirements for rubber contraceptive diaphragms, hereinafter diaphragms, as well as their classification, characteristics and test methods. It also indicates their packaging and labeling conditions. Other vaginal barriers, such as those known as cervical caps and vaginal sponges, are excluded from the scope of this standard.
