The purpose of this standard is to establish, in a general way, the appropriate procedures for the reception of hydraulic turbines and associated equipment and to indicate the mode of operation of such turbines and equipment as well as maintenance operations. It is understood that a rule of this nature does not bind the contracting parties except in those points previously agreed upon. The standard excludes all matters of purely commercial interest except those closely linked to reception, operation and maintenance. The standard applies to action and reaction turbines of all types and, mainly, to large turbines coupled directly to electrical generators. Its field of application also includes turbine-pumps when they operate as turbines. On the contrary, water pipes, gates, valves, drainage pumps, water cooling equipment, generators, etc. are excluded from this standard, except for those that cannot be separated from the turbine and its equipment. When the standard specifies that the documents, plans or instructions must be supplied by the builder (or builders), it is understood that each builder must exclusively provide said information for the equipment that he supplies.
