The purpose of this standard is to specify the methods of measuring the flow of air that passes through a unit area of a sheet of paper or cardboard, to the unit of pressure difference. The measurement can be carried out with any device that meets the specifications of this standard. This part 1 of the standard sets out the basic specifications of test apparatus and general operating procedures. The other parts indicate detailed requirements and operating procedures applicable to specific types of apparatus.
