1.1 This standard specifies the test method on metal specimens and components of an automobile cooling system to evaluate the effect on them of an antifreeze and/or an engine coolant that is circulated under controlled isothermal conditions in the laboratory. 1.2 The method also specifies the test material, the components of the cooling system, type of antifreeze or coolant and flow conditions, which are considered typical for current automotive use. 1.3 This method may involve harmful materials, handling and equipment. No safety guidelines are specified to address problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the person using the method to consult and establish appropriate security practices and determine the application of limitations prior to its use.
