1.1 This standard specifies grades, sizes, mass and tolerances, composition and manufacture, requirements, marking and labelling, sampling and criteria for conformity and testing for steel bars for reinforced concrete : deformed bars, hereinafter referred to as "deformed bars'.'
1.2 Deformed bars shall be manufactured directly, by hot rolling, from billet-, bloom- or ingot- steel made by the open hearth, basic oxygen or electric arc furnace process.
1.3 This standard covers deformed bars of a length of 3.40 m and greater which may be used as reinforcement in concrete for general construction purposes.
