1.1 This standard specifies types, requirements, mark and label, sampling and criteria for conformity, and tests for capacitors for use in tubular fluorescent and other discharge circuit lamps such as high pressure mercury and low pressure sodium vapour lamps, which shall be referred to hereinafter as "capacitors".
1.2 This standard covers only self-healing and non-self-healing capacitors, having a dielectric of paper, plastic film or a combination of both, impregnated with mineral or synthetic oil or unimpregnated, with a continuous rating of up to and including 2.5 kvar, and not less than 0.1 uF, having a rated voltage not exceeding 1 000 V intended for use in a.c. circuits operating at 50 Hz or 60 Hz and at altitudes up to 3000 m above average sea level; it does not cover radio-interference suppressor capacitors and capacitors contained in starters for fluorescent lamps.
