The purpose of this standard is to define and classify schematics, diagrams and tables used in electrical engineering, in order to explain functions or show connections to facilitate design, manufacture, installation and maintenance. Two classifications have been adopted: a) classification according to the intended purpose; b) classification according to the mode of representation. Note. — In practice, the type of a diagram is defined according to its purpose, the mode(s) of representation used are chosen according to convenience.
