This Published Document gives guidance on the use of ISO/IEC and other standards in the area of software
and systems quality. It includes the following.
a) Concepts of software and systems quality: describing the terminology and main concepts for software
and systems quality.
b) A discussion of identified related standards.
c) A proposed Software and Systems Quality Framework (SSQF) of the relationships presented in two
parts:
1) organizational model, based on an BS EN ISO 9001 structure; and
2) project model, based on an ISO/IEC 15288/ISO/IEC 12207 structure.
d) Comparison of the SSQF with other industry quality models (e.g. EFQM excellence model3)).
The scope of SSQF enables ready identification of the component parts of standards that are useful to
develop a good understanding of quality in software and systems.
